Connecting and storytelling are my superpowers.

I’m Sioban (Sha-Von), better known as Sio, and this is where I am supposed to let you know a little bit about me. Personally, I am a proud Bronx native by way of Antigua. I am a graduate of Temple University (TUMF!) where I obtained a Bachelors in Business Administration with my concentration in Marketing. I'm a lover of Carnival and 90’s and 2000s RnB and Hip Hop. I am a strong advocate for Black culture, and its closeness to the Afro-Caribbean diaspora. Connecting and Storytelling are my superpowers. My sun, moon and rising signs are: Capricorn, Cancer, Taurus.  And I take Spades and Uno very seriously.

Professionally, I am the CEO and CSO (Chief Storytelling Officer) and Founder of A Phoenix from the Bronx Creative Group, a consulting company that offers storytelling strategy services for your personal brand, business, or agency. I have experience in multiple industries, working in areas such as strategic partnerships, sponsorships, database management, and large-scale event planning and execution for companies like TED Conferences and Twitter, to name the most recent.

I am a founding member of the Diversity Council for TED Conferences and previously served as the Global Events Chair for Blackbirds, Twitter’s Black Business Resource Group.

In addition, I am a multifaceted creator - creator and host of Take the L podcast, a speaker, a moderator, and host. In addition to the above, I'm also a published personal essay writer, featured on Refinery29.com and NYCGO.com, as well as hosting my own musing right here on this site (check the Random Epiphanies tab).
